Drum Drying System SB-15

Drum Drying System SB-15 is a complete system intended for the continuous drying of bulk materials of wood and plant origin. The device allows the moisture content of the raw material to be reduced before its further use in production processes, including the production of pellets, briquettes and other biomass products.

The complex combines a heating system, a drying drum, a material feeding system, a conveying installation and a receiving cyclone. Thanks to the cooperation of these elements, the drying process can be carried out continuously, without the need to manually move the material between individual stages.

How does the Drum Drying System SB-15 work?

Wet material enters the receiving hopper, from where it is directed by means of a conveyor to the drying drum. Inside the rotating drum, the raw material is moved along its length and at the same time comes into intensive contact with the stream of hot air supplied by the heat generator.

Under the influence of temperature, the moisture contained in the material evaporates. After passing through the drum, the dried raw material goes to the receiving system. The cyclone separates the dried material from the air stream, enabling its further transport or transfer to the next production stage.

Heating system

The source of thermal energy is a furnace heat generator. In the standard configuration, it uses wood as fuel. Optionally, the dryer can be equipped with a pellet burner, which makes it possible to use pellets as an energy source and increase the degree of automation of the combustion process.

This solution makes it possible to choose the method of heat supply depending on the available fuel and the operating conditions of the installation.

Main elements of the complex

The SB-15 dryer is supplied as an integrated set of devices intended to carry out successive stages of the drying process. The complex includes:

• heat generator with furnace adapted for operation on wood, with the possibility of using a pellet burner
• drying drum
• material feeding system including a receiving hopper and an inclined conveyor
• conveying line for carrying the drying medium and material
• cyclone intended for separating and receiving the dried product
• support structures and drives

SB-15 can work with various types of bulk materials of wood and plant origin. Example raw materials include sawdust, wood chips, shredded wood processing waste, husk and straw.

The device can also be used for drying other types of biomass if they require a reduction in moisture content before the next processing stage.

Construction and transport

The SB-15 complex was designed taking into account the requirements related to its transport. The width of the structure makes it possible to transport the dryer components by a standard closed-body truck, without the need to rely exclusively on oversized transport.

This solution simplifies the organization of device delivery and facilitates its logistical handling before installation at the destination site.

Material moisture content

The dryer is intended to work with material with an initial moisture content of 50-60%. Depending on the type of raw material and the process conditions, it is possible to obtain a final moisture content of about 8-12%.

Preparing the material to this level of moisture content makes it possible to use it in subsequent technological processes in which an appropriately low water content is required.

Dryer application

Drum Drying System SB-15 can be an element of technological installations used in plants engaged in the processing of biomass and wood waste. It will prove particularly suitable in processes of preparing raw material for the production of pellets, briquettes and other biomass products.

The device can also be used wherever it is necessary to reduce the moisture content of bulk material before further transport, storage or processing.
