Feed Extruders

Feed extruder is a specialized device using extrusion technology for the production of feed with very high digestibility reaching up to 90%. The machine transforms whole grains and legumes into easily digestible, foamed granules used as valuable feed for livestock and pets. What is extrusion feed production?

Food extruders carry out intensive thermal-mechanical processing of cereals and other grains using hot extrusion. The raw material, such as soybeans, corn, or wheat, is crushed and then subjected to thermal processing at 120–180°C and high pressure. Under the influence of a sudden drop in pressure at the nozzle exit, the grain expands ("pops"), increasing its volume and porosity. As a result, a high-quality, easily digestible feed with improved energy availability is produced.

The use of extruded feed in animal nutrition brings a number of undeniable benefits.

• Better digestibility – During extrusion, starch and complex carbohydrates break down into simpler compounds, which are more easily accessible for the animal digestive tract.
• High nutritional value – Vitamins and other valuable nutrients present in the original raw material are retained.
• Deactivation of anti-nutritional substances – Under the influence of heat and pressure, anti-nutritional compounds present in legumes (e.g., soybeans) are deactivated, which significantly increases the nutritional value of the resulting feed.
• Feed sanitary safety – The high temperature eliminates bacteria, pathogenic fungi, and other undesirable microorganisms, improving the hygienic safety of the feed. This is particularly important for feeding young animals, which are more sensitive to pathogens.
• Increased feed volume – The extrusion product takes the form of flakes or aerated pellets with a greater volume compared to the originating raw material. As a result, animals need less extruded feed than regular or pelleted feed to feel full.
• Easy transport and storage – Feed produced with an extruder is convenient to store and transport, and its particles do not separate or crumble.

Soybean extruder or universal? Choose the best model for your needs

To meet the expectations of both customers planning large-scale production and hobby breeders, our assortment includes a very wide selection of extruder models with different capacities and purposes. The EGK-30 extruder with a capacity of 30 kg/h is a small but efficient device designed for small farms. For small production sites and farms, we also recommend universal feed extruders with outputs of EGK-50, EGK-60, and EGK-100 at 50, 60, and 100 kg per hour, respectively. Models with a capacity of 150, 200, and 350 kg/h are also available in versions optimized for processing high-protein raw materials, mainly raw soybeans. At the same time, our soybean extruders can also be used to process other grains, including cereals. To meet the demands of large processing plants and high-input farms, we have prepared two most efficient extruders: EGK 400 and EGK-500 processing 400 and 500 kg of raw material per hour, respectively. For clients requiring field work, full mobility, and independence from the power grid, we have created extruder lines powered by a tractor’s power take-off (PTO). PTO extruders are available in versions with capacities of 100, 200, or 350 kg/h.
