A grain aerator is a device used to aerate cereal grains. This is a process aimed at improving the quality of the grain by increasing its "respiration" as a result of introducing air into it. The aeration process helps increase enzyme activity, which has a positive effect on the nutritional properties of the grain. Grain aeration is especially important for grain intended for storage, as it significantly prevents its spoilage—prevents the growth of mold, fungi, and loss of grain quality.
KOZAK grain aerators by Technomaszbud consist of two basic components: a fan and an aeration chamber. The fan creates an airflow that is directed into the aeration chamber. In the aeration chamber, the grain is exposed to the action of air for an appropriately selected period of time.
The aeration time depends on the type of grain and the storage conditions.
Optimizing grain quality through aeration is a key procedure in agriculture and the grain-milling industry. This process offers numerous advantages that have a direct impact on the durability and commercial value of the product. Its purpose is to reduce the post-harvest moisture of the grain and provide appropriate conditions during storage. It is important to remember that the basic requirement for proper storage is a maximum grain moisture of approx. 14.5%. In the case of oats, this value must not exceed 12.5%.
