Grain Extruder EGK-50

EGK-50 is a compact feed extruder designed for processing plant-based raw materials such as corn, grains, and feed mixes. Thanks to thermo-mechanical treatment, the digestibility and quality of the raw materials improve, resulting in better nutritional outcomes.

The model is dedicated to small and medium-sized farms and local production facilities. Its simple design and easy operation allow the device to be quickly implemented into daily work without specialized training.

The difference between the EGK-50 and EGK-60 extruders is that the latter uses a 7.5 kW motor. This allows for higher load and thus increased capacity.

The working section of the feed extruder consists of two chambers— in the loading chamber the raw material is crushed, and in the pressing chamber the material is subjected to thermal treatment at 120–180°C under high pressure. Then, passing through the extruder orifices, the material “explodes,” experiencing a hydraulic shock effect due to the sudden pressure drop. As a result, the grain foams and increases its volume several times. Consequently, animals need less feed in the form of puffed sticks than in regular or pelleted form to feel satiated.

Thanks to the action of high temperature, the feed extruder disinfects the feed, eliminating pathogenic microflora, fungi, and disease-causing bacteria to which young animals are particularly sensitive.

In addition, under pressure and high temperature, hard-to-digest starches break down into lighter, simple carbohydrates and sugars. Vitamins and all nutrients are preserved because the temperature exposure lasts only a fraction of a second. This way, animals do not expend energy on digesting the feed but direct it to weight gain and increased milk yield.
