Description
Pellet Mill / Granulator TMB-560 is a machine designed for the production of pellets from various types of biomass raw materials. The machine design is based on a ring die system, which enables pressing properly prepared material into pellet form.
Pellet mill design - a complete solution for pellet production
The wood pellet mill has been designed as a complete and efficient production system, in which the most important subassemblies work together to ensure stable, safe and long-term operation.
The machine consists primarily of three main units:
- the main pelletizing unit, responsible for forming pellets
- the lubrication system with an oil pump, ensuring proper lubrication and protection of key mechanical components
- the electrical control cabinet, enabling safe and stable control of the machine's operation
132 kW power and capacity up to 2 tons of pellets per hour
This model has been equipped with a 132 kW motor and achieves a capacity of about 1.5 – 2.0 t/h, depending on the type and parameters of the processed raw material.
One of the key design solutions is the direct connection of the motor to the main gearbox. This makes it possible to reduce losses occurring during power transmission, use the motor power more efficiently, and increase the efficiency of the entire system.
As a result, the pellet mill provides high energy efficiency, stable transmission of heavy loads, and high production capacity, which is particularly important during continuous operation in plants producing pellets on an industrial scale.
Operating principle
The raw material is fed into the working chamber, where it is pressed by a system of pressure rollers cooperating with the ring die. Under pressure, the material passes through the die holes and is formed into pellets.

Main advantages of the TMB-560 pellet mill
Main gearbox - high durability and precision of operation
The pellet mill gearbox uses a four-stage gear train and a three-stage power transmission system ensuring high load-carrying capacity. Compared with older solutions, its load capacity is up to 5 times higher, which affects the durability of the entire system.
The housing and other gearbox components are manufactured in a precise casting process, and then subjected to advanced CNC machining. The housing and cover are machined separately on Neway gantry machining centers, and then inspected using precision 3D measuring equipment.
After assembling the housing with the cover, single-operation precision machining of the holes and surfaces is carried out on a Japanese SNK five-axis machining center. The machining accuracy can reach as much as 0.02 mm, which makes it possible to obtain excellent coaxiality and precise positioning of all gearbox components.
Active lubrication and cooling system
The gearbox lubrication system pump has been equipped with an oil cooling fan, thanks to which its temperature can be reduced without the need to stop the machine.
The circulating oil system ensures continuous lubrication of key components, including the main shaft bearings and the gearbox. This solution supports stable operation under heavy loads and enables long-term machine operation.
High-grade gears with a hardened surface
The internal gearbox gears are made of high-quality forged alloy steel. After preliminary machining, the components undergo a carburizing and quenching process, which significantly increases surface hardness and wear resistance.
The final machining of the gears is carried out by precision grinding on German Niles gear grinding machines.
The result is a drive system with high load-carrying capacity, high wear resistance, and reliable operation even under demanding production conditions.
Main shaft - a key component responsible for machine stability
The main shaft is made of high-quality material in a precision forging process, thanks to which it is characterized by very high mechanical strength and high load resistance.
The forgings are successively subjected to rough machining, heat treatment, and further technological processes increasing the stiffness and durability of the shaft.
The final machining is carried out on Doosan horizontal machining centers, while maintaining stringent dimensional tolerances.
The precise manufacturing technology ensures very good coaxiality and positioning accuracy, which directly affects the operating stability of the entire pellet mill and its long service life.
Bearing housing
The pellet mill bearing housing has been made of high-quality materials as a one-piece casting, which ensures high rigidity and load resistance.
After preliminary machining, the component is subjected to precise finish machining on a Neway turn-mill center. Such a solution makes it possible to obtain very high dimensional accuracy and stable seating of cooperating components.
Modern rotary system
The rotary system is equipped with a drive with a gearbox with hardened tooth surfaces, ensuring long service life and stable operation.
The large and small gears have been separated from the pelletizing chamber. Such a solution limits the contact of the mechanism with hot steam and material, significantly reducing the risk of corrosion.
The stationary elements having contact with the raw material and steam are made of stainless steel, which further increases the durability of the entire feeding unit.
Discharge housing made of stainless steel
The housing of the discharge system is manufactured by single-piece stamping from high-quality 304 stainless steel with a thickness of 5 mm.
A press with a force of 5000 tons is used for its forming. The one-piece construction ensures high mechanical strength, very good corrosion resistance, and reduces the negative impact of water vapor.
As a result, the component retains its properties over a long period of intensive operation.
Ring die - high durability and efficient pelletizing
The ring die is made of wear-resistant stainless steel and subjected to hardening in a vacuum furnace.
The technological process ensures uniform material hardness, high crack resistance, and very good abrasion resistance.
The die holes are made using the fast, precise drilling method, thanks to which they are evenly distributed and their internal surface is smooth. This supports smooth material passage and high pelletizing capacity.
An additional advantage is the possibility of using the die on both sides, which makes it possible to extend its service life.
Rollers with increased wear resistance
The pellet mill rollers are manufactured using modern robotic hardfacing with a highly wear-resistant alloy technology, replacing traditional surface carburizing.
This technology provides very high abrasion resistance and long roller service life. At the same time, it helps reduce the wear of the ring die, lowering the operating costs of the machine.
Control cabinet - safety and stable operation
The electrical control systems are assembled at the manufacturer's specialized plant, under controlled conditions of temperature, humidity, and limited dust.
Such an environment ensures suitable conditions for the precise assembly of electrical and electronic components.
The control cabinet is equipped with a soft start system, which limits overloads during motor start-up, increases operational safety, and supports longer service life of the components.
