FPR-48 Frame and Plate Filter, also known as a filter press, is an efficient device designed for the precise purification of liquids such as vegetable oils, wines, beers, juices, and syrups. The large filtration area enables effective removal of various mechanical impurities – solid particles, wax, protein sediments, or plant residues. As a result, the quality of the final product is significantly improved.

The compact design of the FPR-48 Filter (155 cm length, 75.4 cm width, and 120 cm height) facilitates the device's integration into production lines. Its sturdy construction, weighing 320 kg, ensures stability and a long period of intensive operation.

Construction and Principle of Operation

The principle of purifying oil from mechanical impurities in the oil filter is to force the oil through a porous layer of filter cloth (“belting”).

The oil filter consists of a set of plates, frames, and filter cloth. The surfaces of the plates are perforated. Filter pads made from filtration material are placed over the frames.

The plates have holes that form a through-channel into which the oil to be filtered is pumped. The oil passes through the plate and the filter cloth fitted to the frame. Mechanical contaminants are retained on the surface of the cloth, while the filtered oil flows through the cloth and is discharged via an opening in the frame through a special pipe to the clean oil tank.

The plates and frames, along with their fitted filter materials, are pressed together using a manual screw clamp. The entire assembly is mounted on a steel frame, which acts as the device's supporting structure.

Vegetable oil is delivered to the filter by a pump unit mounted on the filter’s frame.

The device is powered by a NOVAX 25 Oil pump – an electric peristaltic pump made of stainless steel and bronze coated with a protective layer. 

Star-shaped impeller ensures a stable liquid flow, and the installed manometer monitors pressure and signals when filter elements need replacement or cleaning.

Filtration takes place by pumping liquid through a layer of filter material. The retained particles accumulate, forming what is known as a filter cake. As the cake builds up, the liquid flow slows and pressure rises. At the end of the cycle, the plates and filter materials are cleaned or replaced.
